What is Clean Streams?

Clean Streams is a coalition program for turf professionals in Mecklenburg County. After completion of a half day seminar and written exam, participants will be promoted to local citizens as having successfully completed the Clean Streams program and are turfgrass professionals who wish to protect water quality in Mecklenburg County. Cleans Streams is a program created locally by NC Cooperative Extension Service, Mecklenburg County Water Quality Program and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services.

How is Clean Streams beneficial to turf professionals?

Clean Streams professionals will be promoted through the City and County Storm Water Services programs as having participated in the Clean Streams program. They will proudly display the Clean Streams logo and receive a certificate. Most importantly, Clean Streams professionals will be recognized publicly through advertising in the local media for their outstanding commitment to protecting water quality.

How is Clean Streams beneficial to the citizens of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County?

There will be no more guessing about selecting a turfgrass professional. Citizens will know that their contractor or golf course superintendent is committed to protecting water quality in their community just by looking for the Clean Streams program.

  • Saving time and money while protecting the environment
  • Proper storage and disposal of pesticides and fertilizers

Each professional will receive:

  • One Pesticide Recertification Credit in all subclasses
  • Clean Streams decals
  • Clean Streams Certificate of Completion
  • Technical Support
  • Increased recognition though the website, brochure and advertisements
