BIG SWEEP 2009



A BIG thanks to everyone who helped with BIG Sweep on October 3rd. The 2009 totals:

  • 619 volunteers
  • 622 bags of trash
  • 15,110 pounds of trash

The SEVEN TONS of trash included:

  • 39 tires
  • 1 refrigerator
  • 7 shopping carts
  • 1 TV

Big Sweepers cleaned sections of six local creeks and more than 91 miles of Mecklenburg shoreline of Mountain Island Lake.

Unusual things found during Big Sweep 2009:

     Rubber chicken
