The governments of Charlotte, the six Towns and Mecklenburg County also have a document outlining a community vision to protect lives and the environment from natural disasters.  It's called the "Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan."  That's a mouthful!

Its goal: reducing the potential impact of natural disasters that can occur in Mecklenburg County.  That includes flooding, hurricanes and tropical storms, severe thunderstorms, ice storms, droughts, even earthquakes. 

When local governments plan for natural disasters and work proactively to reduce the impact of such disasters, we have a safer community.  We can recover more quickly from disasters at a lower cost.
