Curb It! Services Suspension Update
|
January 21, 2009 – (Charlotte, NC) – All Curb It! collection services were suspended on Tuesday, January 20 due to hazardous neighborhood road conditions that did not improve until mid-afternoon. Solid Waste Services was already operating on a one-day delay due to the observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. In order to get collection services back on schedule, Solid Waste is suspending yard waste, bulky item and recycling collection for the remainder of this week.
Customers who normally receive garbage collection on Monday or Tuesday, will receive service today, January 21. Wednesday customers will be serviced on Thursday; Thursday customers on Friday and Friday customers on Saturday, January 24.
Recycling and yard waste collection will resume on Monday, January 26. Bulky items that were scheduled for collection during the week of January 19 will be collected the week of January 26.
To ensure collection, residents are asked to:

- Rinse out and remove lids from recyclable containers before placing them in the recycling bin
- Trimmings from shrubs and trees must be no longer than 5 feet in length and no larger than 4 inches in diameter
- Yard waste should be separated in piles small enough for one person to carry
- Call 311 to schedule bulky item collection
- Please allow 3 feet between the rollout cart, recycling bins, yard waste, bulky items and other obstacles
