Mecklenburg County, in partnership with the City of
Charlotte and the towns of Davidson, Huntersville, and Mint Hill is in the process of unveiling a new education campaign to rejuvenate our recycling program and increase participation.
Mecklenburg County is working with several communities, including yours, to get curbside recycling participation numbers up. Recycling at the curb is easy to do and we want to get the message out so…We need your help! Use information on this website to educate yourself and your neighbors about the benefits of recycling.
Here are some of the highlights of what we're doing in Mecklenburg County:

Partnering with the aluminum industry to improve the effectiveness of our communications. The industry has enjoyed success in numerous other communities and we are thrilled to be working with them here in Mecklenburg County.

Providing bins upon request to Homeowner Associations to distribute to new residents.

Engaging the media regularly on recycling issues.

Collaborating with Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful and Mecklenburg County School District to distribute flyers and other materials at events and schools to inform students (and their parents) about the recycling program.

Invite a program representative to speak at one of your homeowner meetings.

Appoint someone to distribute bins in your neighborhood.

Post flyers in highly visible areas such as at community pools or play grounds. We can provide you with fliers.

Distribute information at your homeowner meetings.

Place an article or ad about recycling that we will provide into your association newsletter or Web site.

Write a letter to the Charlotte Observer about how important recycling is (we can help you do this).
