Welcome to the Neighborhood!
|
The staff and management of Solid Waste Services know that quality, efficient and cost-effective solid waste services are essential to the health and sanitation of Charlotte's neighborhoods. For that reason, we view ourselves as an integral part of the neighborhood and are excited about having new neighbors - YOU!
We have developed this page as a resource for you. This page will provide you with information to ease the transition from private solid waste collection services to City collection services. Check this page frequently as it will be updated often links to collection day information, and much more!
What to expect:
- Your new City collection services will begin the week of June 29, 2009.
- You will get a new City-issued gray garbage cart and red recycling bin. They should arrive no later than June 19.
- If your new cart and bin have not arrived by June 22, you should call 311 or 704.336.7600. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- Your current service provider should contact you to tell you when they will come get your old cart and bin. If you haven't heard from them yet, you should call them.
- If your new cart and bin arrive before your old one is picked up, be sure you don't have the new one at the curb until your first collection day. When your City service begins, be sure you only use the City-issued cart and bin. The City will not empty carts and bins not issued by them.
- When service starts, be sure to place garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulky items at the curb no later than 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled day of collection. If you place your items at the curb prior to the day before your scheduled day or leave it out after midnight on your scheduled day of collection, the City could fine you up to $50.
- If for some reason your garbage, recycables, yard waste and bulky items are not collected on your scheduled service day, call 311 the day after collection.
