Centers Corridors and Wedges
|
The Centers, Corridors, and Wedges Growth Framework was originally introduced in 1994 and is the City of Charlotte's adopted overarching policy for organizing and guiding growth and development within the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
The Framework identifies five radial growth Corridors and a variety of activity Centers that will have infrastructure to support higher intensity development. Wedges, which fall between the growth Corridors, are planned for primarily low to medium density residential development, with supporting services, reflecting the existing development pattern in those areas.
The Centers, Corridors, and Wedges Growth Framework is currently being updated and is expected to be adopted in 2007. It will serve to enhance relationships between land use and transportation, further define activity Centers, growth Corridors and Wedges; and, review targets to measure the success of the framework over time.
