TREE LIGHTING AT FREEDOM PARK

FESTIVITIES, CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING AT FREEDOM PARK

December 2, 2005

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and the Freedom Park Neighborhood Association invites everyone to the first ever Christmas tree lighting and "Hanging of the Green" at Freedom Park on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 4pm-6pm. This is a new event to mark the Holiday season.

Two fifty foot live evergreens will be decorated and lighted, one on either side of the band shell beside the lake. Before the lighting at about 5:45pm, there will be refreshments and caroling. Santa Claus is expected to visit. Any family may bring an ornament to hang on the tree. These will become part of the permanent collection of holiday ornaments for Freedom Park.
