REGISTER NOW FOR ‘OPERATION BOOT CAMP’ AT LATTA PARK, AIMING AT PHYSICAL TRANSFORMATION IN FOUR WEEKS

July 7, 2009

Charlotte, NC  –  Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation invites adults interested in really getting into shape and improving their heath to join either of two “boot camp” fitness programs that begin July 13, 2009 in Latta Park, 601 East Park Avenue in Dilworth. The boot camps start at 5:45am and 7:00am, each running an hour a day, and continuing for 30 consecutive days.

These camps are presented by a partnership between Park and Recreation and Operation Boot Camp of Charlotte. They combine coed outdoor workouts, a nutrition regimen and constant accountability to challenge participants to equal and surpass the boundaries of their comfort zones, while still having fun! Results of previous camps are described as “life-changing” and include fit, toned bodies, increased self-confidence, and improved strength and endurance. The boot camps are offered to adults, ages 18 and older, at all levels of fitness, from elite athletes to those who have not exercised in years.

“We are excited that people in the Greater Charlotte area have the opportunity to experience this program,” said Christen Lewis, owner of Operation Boot Camp of Greater Charlotte. “Operation Boot Camp has been refining its program since it was created in 2000 to offer intense workouts while providing motivation, positive reinforcement, education and fun. Our program aims to improve each of our boot campers while giving back to the community through partnerships with the local parks and green spaces.” Operation Boot Camp held its first Charlotte camp in March, and participation has grown 180 percent in four months. New venues including University Area, South Park and Lake Norman will be added in upcoming months.

The summer special to join a boot camp is $299. For more information, call 888-7-FITNOW (888-734-8669) or visit www.operationbootcamp.com
