Park and Recreation must ***POSTPONE*** POSTPONE*** construction of our "Accessible Playground" project until the fall. The new exact dates have not been set.

Charlotte, NC-- Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department seeks hundreds of volunteers between April 28-May 4, 2008 to help build the county's first fully accessible playground project called "Hearts and Hands" in Nevin Park, 6000 Statesville Road.
This will be a play area without barriers, specially designed to be accessible for all children, regardless of their abilities. The playground will be designed with a NASCAR theme.

Build shifts will be scheduled each day: 8am–Noon, 12:30–5pm, and 5:30pm–Dark. Come and help for a shift! Skilled and unskilled volunteers are needed for hospitality, first aid, children's activities and actual construction of the playground. Mecklenburg Park and Recreation invites the following persons and groups to help build Hearts and Hands:
- Individuals
- Families
- Churches
- Companies
- Social Groups
- Fraternities and Sororities
- and Sport Teams
This is a great opportunity for groups to do a little "team building" and to help with an important project for the community.
