MEMORIAL SERVICE, CONCERT, BALLOON RELEASE APRIL 5 AT OUR CHILDREN’S MEMORIAL WALKWAY IN FRAZIER PARK
February 18, 2008

Charlotte, NC--   Our Children's Memorial Walkway invites anyone grieving the loss of a loved one to come to a special spring memorial service and concert Saturday April 5, 2008, 2pm, at the memorial walkway in Frazier Park, 1201 West 4th Street.  At the end of the service, balloons with messages written to departed loved ones will be released into the sky.

This concert will feature Alan Pedersen, a professional singer/songwriter, who lost his 18 year old daughter, Ashley, in a car accident.  He is now traveling the country, presenting more than 200 free concerts in her memory.  Additional information about Pedersen is available at his website: www.everashleymusic.com/bio.html.  Our Children’s Memorial Walkway presents two general services a year, one in spring, one in fall. Families who have lost a loved one of any age are invited to bring a lawn chair and attend. The walkway is in a beautiful park setting with trees, plants, statues of children, and a memorial monument.

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway and garden is on property of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and was created in 2001 through a partnership among the parks department and several grief groups. The walkway now has more than 600 bricks engraved with names and messages remembering children of all ages who have died. The garden also has eight memorial benches. Anyone may purchase an engraved brick to memorialize a departed loved one. The engraved bricks sell for $50-$100. You do not have to have an engraved brick to attend the service.

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway is a 501(c)(3) corporation and is now accepting donations for the upkeep of the garden. For more information or to order a memorial brick, an engraved bench, or to make a donation, check online at www.ocmw.org , call Ms. Jerry Mudge at 704 509-6603 (home) or 704 517-1696 (cell), or write to OCMW Inc., P.O. Box 44153, Charlotte, NC 28215.
