ONLINE VOTING STARTS APRIL 1 FOR THREE "TOP DOG"FINALISTS, PART OF HARRIS TEETER/PURINAź BARK IN THE PARK FESTIVAL
April 1, 2008

Charlotte, NC-- Three finalists have been chosen in the much heralded Harris Teeter Purinaź Top Dog Photo Contest for 2008.  Dog Lovers may cast their votes online. Online voting will run April 1 (at Noon) through April 19 (until 5pm).  The winner will be announced April 21 at Noon on the website. The finalist candidates are:

TOP DOG Finalists - Bear, Cocoa Latte, and Sterling

These three finalist photos were chosen for cleverness and originality by a panel of judges from 93 entries.  Entries increased 50% this year!  The contest is part of the Harris Teeter/Purinaź Bark in the Park dog festival Saturday, April 26 from 10am-4pm in William R. Davie Park, 4635 Pineville-Matthews Road (NC Highway 51). This festival is FREE to the public. Parking is at Calvary Church with shuttle vans to Bark in the Park.

The Top Dog will receive a photo portrait donated by Deborah Triplett Studios. The winner and his/her master will also act as grand marshals of the WAXN Pooch Parade at this year's Bark in the Park and receive a year's supply of "yourpet" brand dog food and a Harris Teeter/Purinaź prize pack.

The Bark in the Park dog festival is expected to draw several thousand "dogs and the people they own."  Last year more than 10-thousand people and about 5,000 dogs attended.  The Ultimate Air Dogs, presented by Purinaź, will entertain with captivating feats of jumping, diving, and fetching. The festival will include contests such as Pet/Owner Look-Alike, Best Costume, Best Bark, Largest Dog, Smallest Dog, and Best Trick. Registration for these contests will be at the event. The festival will include many exhibits, dog products, adoptable dogs on display, food, fun and great dogs to see and greet.  Proceeds from the Harris Teeter Purinaź Bark in the Park dog festival will help raise money for future off-leash dog parks.

For more information on the festival, check the Bark in the Park webpage or call 311.
