SIGN-UP NOW FOR YOUTH FOOTBALL INSTRUCTIONAL CAMPS; PARK AND REC, NFL JOIN TO TEACH BASIC TACKLE FOOTBALL

Charlotte, NC – Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department invites youth, ages 12-14, interested in playing tackle football to sign up for football instructional camps June 16-19, 2008, 9am- 3pm. These camps are organized by Park and Recreation's Youth Football Initiative in association with the Junior Player Development program of the National Football League.

These camps are FREE and will be held at the following locations:
- East Mecklenburg High School, 6800 Monroe Road
- Hopewell High School, 11530 Beatties Ford Road
- Olympic High School, 4301 Sandy Porter Road
Participants will learn the basics of football by position in a fun and entertaining manner. Each session will include "Strive For Excellence" life skills and messages. Camps conclude with a Skills Showcase June 20, 7pm. No experience in playing tackle football is needed. Parental authorization, signed waiver form and medical insurance coverage are required. Pre-registration is required. To register, contact the head football coach at the site of interest.
