Make a gift in honor of a person or an organization you care about. Commemorate special occasions such as births, weddings, family reunions or a loved one. Trees will be planted from November 1 to March 1. Trees will be 2" in caliper and from 8' to 10' tall, depending on species and availability. There are many species that are available for planting.

COST: $250, Includes the tree, a commemorative engraved brick mounted in concrete and a 1 year warranty on the tree.

Types of Tree Dedications:

• Memorial Tree: Dedicated in honor of a deceased loved one.

• Honor Tree: Dedicated to a living person or organization.
  

• Young-n-Growing: Dedicated to a new born or youth.
  

• Reforesters of Mecklenburg County: This is a separate program that helps reforest our park system. Species selected would reflect trees typically native to our forests. Contributions by individuals, groups, or companies to help reforest our park system. Call for additional information.
  

Process for purchasing tree or park bench:

• All calls from potential donors should be referred to the main contact for Park Services (Tim Turton; 704-549-5617). He can assist you with your donation.
  
  
• The Purchaser can select a variety of trees. These are trees that are available locally, are well adapted to our region, and promise to perform to your expectations. For a list of tree specimens email Tim Turton, tim.turton@mecklenburgcountync.gov
  
• The tree cost is $250.00, which includes the tree purchase, freight, installation, a Dedication Brick and a one year guarantee of the tree. Checks must be made out to the non-profit "Partners for Parks" agency. We cannot accept checks made out to the County or the Park & Recreation Department.
  
  
• Dedication Brick ordering: The Dedication Brick allows you to commemorate the individual you wish to honor. The exact language that the donor wants on the brick should be provided in writing by the donor. Bricks may state "In Honor of……" or "In Memory of…..", with dates, or similar wording. More elaborate statements cannot be made. A maximum of 3 names can be put on one brick.
  
  
• Trees will be planted from November 1 through March 1, which is the planting season that ensures the best success of the tree. Trees should be ordered by January 1 if they are to be planted that year. Orders placed later than January 1st will be planted the next year.
  
  
• The Purchaser will be able to request a tree planting location but our Horticulturists guide you in your site selection to ensure the site is appropriate for your trees' survival and ultimate growth size. For a tree list and application form, please e-mail Tim Turton.
