| PROJECT HISTORY: |
2004 Park Bonds were approved for the development of Phase I of this new sports complex in conjunction with a partnership grant from the Town of Matthews that totaled $2M. Total project funding will be $7M. A series of public community workshops were conducted in the Fall of 2007 and Winter of 2008 with a final schematic concept plan emerging which was approved by the South Park District, the Park Commission, and the Board of County Commissioners. |
| PROJECT SCOPE: |
Phase I construction will consist of 5 soccer fields – 2 which will be synthetic. These fields will be built to tournament quality standards and will include parking, irrigation, lighting, restrooms, and a playground. Existing trails throughout the property will also be improved. |
| STATUS/TIMELINE: |
Construction Documents are being prepared. Bidding and construction on hold until public bond sales are reinstated. |
