In 2004 Mecklenburg County voters approved 69 million dollars in Park Bond projects. One of those projects called for the creation of a new district park near Billy Graham Parkway and West Boulevard.
Throughout the planning process, various sites have been studied, difficult terrain evaluated and additional properties acquired at the chosen site. The park property has grown to 75 acres and design is moving forward to start the first phase of construction late summer of 2008.
