In 2002, following a seven-month design process, the City of Charlotte unveiled the Second Ward Neighborhood Plan. At the heart of the plan is the new Second Ward Park. The Park redefines the underutilized Marshall Park, creates a heart for the redeveloped neighborhood and provides a constant flow of activity during daytime and evening hours. More importantly, the new park and other open spaces present the opportunity to tell the story of the former Brooklyn village.
