The Park Planning Division of the Park and Recreation Department is responsible for the expenditure of voter approved park bonds to be used for renovating and building Park and Recreation facilities. These facilities include parks, recreation centers, park amenities and more. Park Planners serve as a connection to the public to get feedback on how park bonds should be spent. The main goal of the division is to provide a balanced recreation facilities to all neighborhood and communities in Mecklenburg County. In recent years, planners have focused on joint-use facilities. These facilities are shared with schools, churches and the private sector.
