Funds have been allocated from the 1999 and 2004 Park Bonds.  A series of Community Workshops were conducted in 2003 to design and plan the park with subsequent approvals by the Northeast Park District Advisory Council, the Park and Recreation Commission, and the Board of County Commissioners.  The site is unique in that two sections of the park will serve multiple neighborhoods.  A Public Art display will also be a part of the park initial phase and involved the community and the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte Mecklenburg.

Phase I will include 2 softball fields, 2 soccer fields, 2 restroom buildings and associated parking.                                                                    

Project is currently under construction with an expected completion date of Fall, 2008.
