Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation partners with The First Tee of Charlotte to bring a variety of free and affordable golf instruction programs to the youngsters.  These programs reach out to many youngsters who might otherwise never learn the game. The First Tee has 260 chapters worldwide. It is supported by many professional golfers, amateur players, clubs, businesses, and friends. 

The First Tee's Learning Academy teaches golf and more at Revolution Golf Course

The First Tee of Charlotte is headquartered at Park and Recreation's Revolution Golf Course, 2661 Barringer Drive. This facility is a Golf Learning Learning Academy.  The academy stresses playing the sport, as well as mentoring and learning life skills through golf.  Core values of The First Tee are integrity, responsibility, respect, honesty, integrity, confidence, perseverance, sportsmanship and good judgment. Youth, ages 5-18, are invited to participate in various programs.

Many fine golfers volunteer to teach at the Learning Academy.
