U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
The mission of HUD is to provide a decent, safe, and sanitary home and suitable living environment for every American. The City of Charlotte annually receives federal funds from HUD through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnership Act, the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs. The City also received funding for its Lead Based Paint Program from HUD. Through the Consolidated Action Plan, the City applies annually for federal funding. At the end of each fiscal year (July 1-June 30), the City submits the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (C.A.P.E.R.). For more information on HUD programs, visit www.hud.gov.
North Carolina Housing Finance AgencyThe mission of the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency is to lead in creating affordable housing opportunities through the effective investment of public and private capital, professionalism, and responsiveness to the needs of its partners and the people it serves. The agency operates federal and state housing programs including the Mortgage Revenue Bond Program, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program and N.C. Housing Trust Fund. The Agency provides services to assist first time homebuyers, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and private sector developers of affordable housing.
