Emergency Utility Assistance
The Emergency Utility  Assistance Program is administered by Crisis Assistance Ministry.  The program serves individuals and families in financial distress by preventing utility loss with payments made directly to utility companies.

In overseeing the program Crisis Assistance Ministry:
  • Assists Charlotte residents who have delinquent heating or water bills
  • Makes payments directly to the energy vendors
  • Maintains records (i.e., clients name and address, amount and date of payment) of energy payments
  • Makes records available for City review
  • Returns all unused City funds at the end of the fiscal year
  • Submits a report to the City at the end of the fiscal year
The program is funded through the Innovative Housing Fund with payments made directly to utility companies.
