Neighborhood Development
About Us

Neighborhood Development is dedicated to improving all of Charlotte's neighborhoods.  This is accomplished through services that include maintaining community standards through enforcing minimum housing, nuisance and zoning codes; providing affordable housing opportunities by financing affordable housing, providing rehabilitation services and supporting affordable housing organizations; and sustaining neighborhoods through neighborhood revitalization, neighborhood outreach and problem solving and training neighborhood organizations.  The business of Neighborhood Development is all about making neighborhoods better.

Neighborhood Development

In addition to providing direct services, Neighborhood Development acts as an advocate for neighborhoods both within the City organization and with other public and private agencies.  Wherever possible, we seek to secure resources for developing neighborhoods through collaboration, levering and partnerships.

Vision
Neighborhood Development's community vision is that every neighborhood is a desirable place to live, work, learn and play.  The organization's vision is to be known as a visionary organization with knowledgeable, diverse, dedicated and professional staff committed to improving the quality of life in Charlotte's neighborhoods.

Mission
Neighborhood Development's mission is to improve Charlotte's neighborhoods and the lives of the people who live in them.  To accomplish that mission, our goal is to help every neighborhood to become a stable neighborhood.
