Employee Child Passenger Safety Program

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading injury-related killer of our children.  However, local car seat inspection clinics have found that nearly 95% of all seats locally are installed incorrectly.  Further, rates of child safety seat use drop dramatically after age four.  However, the National Safe Kids Campaign recommends that all children under age eight and 80 pounds be restrained in a child safety seat.

Recognizing that our role as injury prevention educators extended within our own Agency family as well as in our community, Medic began offering FREE child safety seats to all of its employees' children under the age of eight.  Since July of 2001, we have distributed nearly 125 seats to more than 100 employees.  To receive these seats, employees receive installation assistance and education from one of our trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians.  This process is designed to ensure that each child is secured properly during each and every trip.  Special emphasis is given to educating parents to be able to reproduce the correct installation of seats.
