Included in the response time performance measurements is the call taking process, dispatch process, and crew response time. Performance is reported using fractile confidence intervals, providing greater precision and reliability confidence than 'average response time' measures used in early EMS.
Service requests are categorized using the Medical Priority Dispatch System. (The categories and response times are described above each set of charts).
The County is divided into three 'sub-zones' to assure equity in response time performance throughout the County. The sub-zone requirement challenges the Agency to provide the same level of service to both the high call density areas and the more difficult to serve low volume, rural areas.

Priority 2 (12:59) Non-life threatening emergency, arrive to at least 90% of requests Countywide, and 85% by zone within 12:59).
Priority 3 (20:00) Non-emergency, arrive on at least 90% of requests Countywide, and 85% by zone within 20:00.
Priority 1 & 2 The Agency self-imposed criteria for all emergencies, to arrive on at least 90% of requests Countywide, and 85% by zone within 9:59. This criteria is supported by the Response Time Efficacy Study by the Center for Pre-hospital Medicine on the effect of response times on patient outcome.
