  • President William Howard Taft came to Charlotte to celebrate Mecklenburg Declaration Day on May 20th.
  • John S. Myers and George Stephens began building Myers Park on 1,220 acres of land southeast of downtown.
  • In 1910, Charlotte's population became larger than the state capital, Raleigh. The economy of Charlotte began to shift from agriculture (tobacco and cotton) to textile production.
