Public Service:
Wilson filled the vacant seat when Mayor Frank McNinch resigned to take a job in Washington.  Prior to becoming Mayor, Wilson was the City Clerk, Treasurer and Tax Collector. He was also one of the three elected commissioners.

During his Administration:

• WBT Radio went on the air as the Carolinas' first radio station.
