John A. Young (1871-1873)

Public Service: Prior to his service as Charlotte's Mayor, Young was an alderman. Later he became Clerk of the County Court.
During his Administration:
- The last Union troops occupied Charlotte. They departed in 1872.
- The town of Pineville was incorporated in 1872.
- The Carolina Central Railroad connected Charlotte to Wilmington.
- The cotton industry boomed as textiles made in the Charlotte area were distributed to markets across the state.
