Public Service:
Wearn served one term as Mayor from 1933 to 1935.  Prior to his becoming Mayor, Wearn served as one of the City commissioners. Wearn later served on the Board of the Mecklenburg County Commission.

Personal:
Arthur Wearn was in the insurance business.

During his Administration:

• The "Great Depression" was at its height.
• The Mint Museum received money to be rebuilt as a museum in the Eastover neighborhood. The U.S. Mint became the Mint Museum of Art.
• The Federal WPA began building Memorial Stadium on the former site of the old City Waterworks.
