What is the Charlotte International Cabinet?
As the face of Charlotte changes, so do the organizations representing our city's diverse population. On October 27, 2008,Charlotte's City Council voted to merge Charlotte Sister Cities (CSC) and the Mayor's International Cabinet (MIC) creating the Charlotte International Cabinet (CIC). By combining the resources of the MIC and CSC, the Charlotte International Cabinet can more effectively provide for the growing needs of our community in areas such as business, immigration and education.
The CIC brings synergie to the economic development and cultural enrichment processes. The exchange programs established by CSC paired with the business relationships shaped by the MIC encourage opportunities for investment. The CIC will accentuate Charlotte's business, cultural, and educational exchanges.
What is the role of the Charlotte International Cabinet?
The Charlotte International Cabinet is a Resource for multiple information requests from local government and the community; a Focus of local international activities; a Consultant to elected officials and city staff; and a Reflection of our community's changing face.
The CIC is responsible for maintaining the sister city relationships between Charlotte and eight international partners cities. The CIC also helps the international community by providing a forum through which they can integrate and communicate easily with elected and civic officials. To best serve those interested in working with the international community, CIC also maintains a database of the international non-profit, educational, cultural and social organizations in the Charlotte region.

The Charlotte International Cabinet promotes Charlotte as an international city and serves as a resource to foster international relationships.
