About the Mayor's International Community Awards
|
Since 1998, the Mayor's International Cabinet, Charlotte Sister Cities, World Affairs Council of Charlotte, North Carolina World Trade Association - Charlotte Chapter, and International House have co-hosted the Mayor's International Community Awards. This event was created to honor the philanthropic giving and other forms of support that many of Mecklenburg County's foreign-owned firms have given to non-profit organizations in the Charlotte area. Each year nine companies are nominated and three are chosen as winners, each in the small, medium and large company categories.
In 2003, the Mayor's International Community Awards event was expanded to the Charlotte USA region. All foreign-owned firms located in the 16-county Charlotte Regional Partnership are eligible for nomination for the Mayor's International Community Award.
The 2009 Mayor's International Community Awards were held as a luncheon on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Westin Uptown, Charlotte.
