Mayor's International Community Awards May 15th, 2008
The mission of the Mayor's International Cabinet is to serve as a forum for international issues and to advocate to local government on behalf of the international communities, organizations and businesses of the city of Charlotte.
The Mayor's International Cabinet is a Resource for multiple information requests from local government and the community; a Focus of local international activities; a Consultant to elected officials and city staff; and a Reflection of our community's changing face.
The Mayor's International Cabinet was created in 1992 as an effort by local government and the community to formally guide the city's direction into the 21st Century as an international city. The Mayor's International Cabinet meets six times a year and serves as an open forum to discuss any international issues the city is facing and to update members on all ongoing Cabinet activities. The mayor presides over these meetings, which are open to the public. Interested members of the community are encouraged to attend.
The Cabinet meetings also serve as a mechanism through which the city's international population of over 120,000 can gain direct access to civic and business leaders who have the ability to act on community concerns.
