Nominator's comments: Officer Stevenson recently returned to "B" Shift after a very successful tour of duty as a Recreation Officer for inmates in DDU. The job of recreation officer is very dangerous and one always has to be alert for spontaneous attacks from inmates. Officer Stevenson gained respect from inmates and staff alike for his professionalism and for how well he performed those duties of the position. Officer Stevenson was able to maintain a great measure of compliance from the inmates that are housed in these units because of the respect the inmates have for him.

Officer Stevenson is also a member of the Direct Action Response Team and was in charge of the facility Security Threat group Unit. He is specifically called upon from whatever post h is on to handle situations with unruly or irate inmates. He is the first member of the team to enter the cell of an inmate that has refused to comply and needs to be extracted from his or her cell. These are roles that Officer Stevenson has taken on without hesitation and is someone looked up to by other team members. He has a positive influence on everyone he has come in contact with. Officer Stevenson is worthy of the Employee of the Month, as he is an example to other employees by his dedication to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
