Security Police Officers
Starting Salary: $31,928 - $39,616/yr


Must be currently holding N. C. BLET certification to apply.

N. C. BLET certified applicants must first fax your resume to 704-336-5097 being sure to note that you are applying for SECURITY POLICE OFFICER. You will be contacted by someone from the Sheriff's Office H. R. staff.

Once determined to be eligible to apply applicants will be scheduled for a required Fitness Test. Applicant must obtain medical approval from personal physician in order to participate in this fitness test. This is a pass /fail test and applicant must pass this fitness test in order to receive an application package. Instructions and required documents will be mailed to eligible applicants.

Incumbents are responsible for performing law enforcement for all County buildings, facilities and grounds. Incumbents are sworn officers and specific responsibilities include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, patrolling assigned areas, conducting investigations, and preparing reports.

Internship At The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office Work Release and Restitution Center

The Mecklenburg County Work Release and Restitution Center provides outstanding work/training experience for interns. The work/training programs are designed to meet the trainees and the correctional program's needs. Internships are available in the Work Release and Restitution Center (WRRC), located on the corner of McDowell Street and Elizabeth Avenue in uptown Charlotte. The WRRC houses adult offenders nearing release. The program has a strong focus on treatment, addiction services, education, family and community involvement and counseling.

The intern work experience at the WRRC includes such activities as supervision of residents, adjustment board member, supervisor of recreational trips, urinalysis collection, treatment team member, resident verifications, crisis intervention and more. There are nonpaid internships and  volunteer positions available.

Internship
Details

  • Approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Working hours may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • A minimum of a three (3) month commitment.
  • College credit hours available.
  • Outstanding training experiences.

Training
Interns are assigned to a supervisor and receive weekly individualized training, as well as in service and on-the-job training.

Qualification
Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Completion of at least three years of college, with one year in criminal justice, a behavioral science or human service.
  • Interest in a career in the human services field or corrections.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • There will be a background check.

Domestic Violence Analyst - Civil Administration
*Job# 4091*

Incumbent collects offender information for the courts and all criminal justice agencies. Reviews and analyzes Domestic Violence papers that are needed for court that morning or afternoon. Papers are entered into the papering system and cleared from the papering system.  All 50 B cases are filed the same day as court. The data must be ready for pulling the next day. 1 yr. orders, Continued, and Dismissed cases must be filed.  Incumbent must appear in court on 50B cases. Incumbent must keep 50B's on file to be heard in court. Rooster sheet, tracking sheets of the Defendant and plaintiff's worksheets are kept and filed.

The incumbent will stand by and wait for new 50B's to be completed by the clerk. The incumbent will interview the plaintiff and explain the order to the plaintiff .Arrest information and obtains additional information from offender/defendants through personal interview and enters the information into a database for system-wide use. Possess excellent communication skills, discretion in obtaining and handling confidential and sensitive information, above average skills in researching information via various computer systems, data entry and knowledge of criminal laws, arrest, investigation, and criminal proceedings of North Carolina. Incumbent must have the ability to work with sworn and civilian staff, and able to following Chain of Command.

Must become DCI certified in a timely fashion after hire.  Training will be scheduled by the supervisor.  Notary Public certification is a plus but will be sent for this training and certification. Spanish speaking is preferred.

Recruitment Standards:

High School Diploma, or G.E.D, and four years of progressively responsible clerical experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to work Monday-Friday 08:00 a.m. until 05:00 pm
