Sheriff's K-9 Unit Brings Smiles to a Vietnam Vet

Jacky Bayne is the only US soldier to be pronounced dead and live to tell about it.  Jacky is a Vietnam Vet who lives in Fort Mill, South Carolina and was a K-9 handler in the Army.  His dog Bruno was a scout dog that saved his life and the lives of other soldiers during the war.  Out on a mission, Bruno triggered a land mine.  The explosion was so severe it killed Bruno and from what everybody thought killed Jacky.  Jacky was put in a body bag and sent to the Coroner's Office.  Miraculously, there were signs of life when the coroner started to put the embalming fluid into his veins.  Jacky was brought back to life and is happily living with his wife Pattsy in Fort Mill.

The MCSO K-9 unit, with the help of Chaplain Walter Dennis, went down to see Jacky and show him our dogs.  The smile on his face went from ear to ear when he had the chance to pet our dogs.  Jacky was given a K-9 poster signed by the unit in honor of his service for this country and as a K-9 Brother.  Pattsy pulled us aside as we left and said, "Thank you for making my Jacky happy!"
