Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office Pre-Trial Release Program - Risk Assessment / Case Management is designed to identify those arrested individuals who can safely be released on their own recognizance or to the supervision of a third party custodian prior to their first scheduled court appearance. Case Management then monitors these individuals until a disposition is rendered in the case or until the program feels sufficient control is lost and petitions the court to return that individual to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail.  The program also gathers background information utilized throughout the system and for Housing Classification, formal bond hearings in both the District and Superior Courts and sentencing on misdemeanor cases.  The program can only accept offenders charged with certain crimes meeting eligibility criteria as designated by local bail policy and approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
