Our vision is to be recognized by the people we serve as a professional organization dedicated to customer service and committed to improving the quality of life in our community. Together, my staff and I will make this vision a reality.

One way we achieve our vision is by operating the most professional correctional facilities in our nation. The citizens of our community — in electing me Sheriff of Mecklenburg County for my third consecutive term — support this concept by supporting my management of our jails with competent, professional corrections employees.

Another aspect of our commitment to excellence is the provision of adequate detention facilities. Thanks to excellent foresight, the citizens of Mecklenburg County have consistently and strongly supported countywide bond issues to build and equip some of the country's most modern jail facilities.

Additionally, my staff and I are working closely with Mecklenburg County government in the "Managing for Results" program in order to develop strategic plans, performance measures, annual performance plans, and performance reporting consistent with the needs of our citizens.  The ultimate goal of this initiative is to make government services better, and cost less.
