Changes to Sedimentation & Erosion Control Ordinances

Mecklenburg County amended its Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Ordinance on October 7, 2008 with the City of Charlotte to vote later in the month on changes to its Ordinance.

Key Changes

  • Additional measures to protect local streams, rivers, lakes, and wetlands
  • Requires that persons responsible for monitoring erosion and sedimentation control at construction sites be certified
  • Corrective action to begin within 24 hours after rain event or inspection
  • Modifications necessary to comply with new State requirements.
