Co-mingled Construction Recycling

Most construction recycling activities in Mecklenburg County consist of waste materials being sorted at the job site.  The recyclable materials are then taken directly to a recycler and the waste (non-recyclable materials) are taken to a final disposal facility.

The other recycling alternative is to have all waste materials taken to a mixed waste processor who will sort the materials for you.  If this sorting is conducted under a roof, no permit is required.  If sorting occurs in an open air environment, a treatment and processing permit is required (issued by the State of North Carolina).
