Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Department offers free recycling drop-off centers to business parks and small business owners for the recovery of office paper and cardboard. The drop-off centers may help reduce regular garbage costs while providing a way for businesses to recycle.
Mecklenburg County is attempting to reduce the amount of waste that is dumped into our landfills, preserving the natural resources and landfills of this county. Convenient drop-off centers in business locations can assist in recycling by providing a mechanism for small businesses, where recycling costs may be prohibitive, to recycle.
Mecklenburg County will place the container at your facility and collect it free of charge. Containers must be placed in areas that are accessible to small businesses in the area. Containers are available in 8, 20, or 30 cubic yard sizes. A limited number of containers will be placed at business locations. Availability of the collection boxes will also be advertised to other small businesses in the surrounding area. Property managers and participating companies are asked to ensure the integrity of the site by making sure it is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
Your location would need space for one container placed in an area where business park tenants and other local businesses can access it to deposit office paper and flattened cardboard.
If you would like to host a business recycling center, please
email or call Mecklenburg County Waste Reduction Office at 704-336-8393. All volunteer sites will be considered and chosen based on availability of containers and geographic locations.
