NESHAP Demolition and Renovation Notification Fees
The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners has adopted fees regarding certain notifications for the demolition or renovation of structures. For fee information please call MCAQ at 704-336-5430 or click here for demolition permit and fee information from Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement. 

The notifications are required by the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants ("NESHAP") as referenced in the Mecklenburg County Air Pollution Control Ordinance.  The asbestos NESHAP, a federal regulation, is designed to protect persons and the environment from unnecessary exposure to asbestos.

Demolition permits are obtained by the property owner or owner's agent from the Land Use and Environemtal Services Agency, Code Enforecment Division located at 700 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, N. C. The department's operating hours are Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  All fees for demolition are paid to Code Enforcement when the demolition permit is issued. 
 
For renovation (asbestos removal) NESHAP notifications only, the fee is $300 and payment shall be by check or money order (no cash), made payable to "Mecklenburg County Air Quality" and submitted to MCAQ with the notification.
