Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency choices can reduce energy bills by a third with similar reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.  17% of end use energy in the United States is consumed by heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.  $18 billion in energy cost is lost to poor operation.  Here are some steps that you can take in your home or office to reduce energy consumption

  • Adjust thermostat to 70 degress in the winter and 76 degress in the summer
  • Turn lights off when you leave the room
  • Disconnect lights in vending machines
  • Turn off office equipment when it is not in use
  • Reduce hot water heater temperature to 120 degrees if allowable
  • Keep doors and windows closed
  • Turn off motorvehicles when not in use or elminate idling times
  • Purchase energy star appliances and enable energy star settings
