OASIS Senior Enrichment Program - Levine Jewish Community Center

Activities

All activities are open to the public and held at the Jewish Community Center (JCC), 5007 Providence Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.

All events require reservations. 

Transportation available for $1.50 per program day and lunch is provided for $5 on Mondays and $6 on Fridays.

Community Weight Loss Challenge
Lake Norman Nutrition through Huntersville Parks & Rec is offering a 12-week Community Weight Loss Challenge.  This 12-week program offers weekly weigh-ins, one on one coaching and group support.  Each weekly nutritional meeting with participants will focus on proper nutrition, food choices and encourages exercise.

The cost is $29 for 12 weeks.  All money will be paid out in cash prizes to the winners.  Specific rules will be in place to keep everyone consistent.

The Charlotte Museum of History resides in 36,000 square feet of exhibition space in four galleries.  It is home to the American Freedom Bell and the Hezekiah Alexander Home site, Charlotte's oldest home, dating to 1774.  The Museum sponsors programs and activities for visitors of every age, showcasing regional history, from early Indian Villages to present-day perspectives.

CARS (Cultural Arts Reaching Seniors)  Activities at the Cornelius Arts Center

A program for active seniors (55+) and those in care residences, created by Barbara Bryan, was formed to bring together Lake Norman area residents who share interests in the arts, history and culture fro arts programs and fellowship.  It is funded through a grant from Mecklenburg Arts and Science Council matched by the Town of Cornelius Parks Arts Recreation Culture.  Administrative support and refreshments from the Estate & Elder Law Firm of Vandiver & Bryan.  Help from Creative Art Exchange and North Mecklenburg Senior Services.

Meetings are the first Friday of each month starting at 10:00 a.  For May & June, CARS will meet across the street from the Cornelius Town Hall at the:

Springtime in Holland and Belgium

May 2 - 10, 2009
The Wisteria Club, a special club for customers of The Scottish Bank who are age 50 and older, cordially invites you to join them on a Springtime Tulip River Cruise featuring Dutch and Belgian Waterways.  Highlights include Amsterdam, Volendam, Arnhem, Middelburg, Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp, Kinderkijk Windmills and Keukenh of Gardens
Cost:  $3,549/double occupancy (lower outside cabin)
$3,799 (middle outside cabin) with an initial deposit of $250 per person due on October 24, 2008.  Final payment will be due on December 29th.  Price includes airfare from Charlotte International Airport, air taxes, fees and fuel surcharges.
