Women’s Health Day (Para Ti Mujer)

WHAT:      Women’s Health Day (Para Ti Mujer)

WHEN:      8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009

WHERE:   Bethesda Health Center
                   133 Stetson Drive
                   Charlotte, NC 28262

WHO:        Mecklenburg County Health Department staff, volunteer doctors and nurses

WHY:        Para Ti Mujer is a one-time event to encourage Hispanic/Latino women of reproductive age to take control of their health and focus on the risks associated with obesity and inactivity.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than half the women in this group report no leisure exercise, potentially leading to heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes.

The Health Department hopes to reverse current trends through education in a culturally competent and linguistically appropriate manner. Health screenings will be provided.
