The Friends School of Charlotte (FSC), an independent Quaker School, hosted a garden celebration kick-off event on Friday, December 12, 2008. Their school was one of the four schools chosen by the Mecklenburg County Fruit & Vegetable Coalition's School Garden Contest. FSC does not currently have a school produce garden but they have a plan in place to construct a garden and plant in the spring.  At the garden celebration kick-off, the children were told about the future garden plans.  Also, the staff arranged for a taste testing of vegetables and building a mini-compost bin. Please see photos from the event.
