BIG SHOT SATURDAY: THREE MORE CHANCES FOR FREE SCHOOL IMMUNIZATIONS
September 4, 2008

Charlotte, NC –The Mecklenburg County Health Department and the Junior League of Charlotte are once again joining forces to make sure children are properly immunized for the new school year.

Big Shot Saturdays second clinic for 2008 is this Saturday, September 6 at the Health Department’s Beatties Ford Road location, from 10 a.m. until  p.m. Immunizations are given on a first-come, first-served basis; however, crowds are expected, so parents are encouraged to arrive early.

Big Shot Saturdays is in its 14th year of providing parents a convenient alternative for getting kids their necessary childhood immunizations. The Saturday clinics are scheduled so that moms and dads won’t have to miss work, make an appointment or wait in a crowded waiting room. In addition, school-age children get their shots free of charge.

Remember, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools require students to have up-to-date shot records in order to be enrolled in class. All that parents need to bring is a from of identification and their children’s current shot records to ensure clinic nurses know exactly which immunizations are needed.

After this week’s clinic, only two more remain:

  • Saturday, September 13 at the Mecklenburg County Health Department, 2845 Beatties Ford Road

  • Saturday, September 20 at Kids HealthLink at Merry Oaks Elementary School, 3508 Draper Avenue

Parents or guardians can always make an appointment for childhood immunizations. The Health Department appointment line is 704-336-6500
