FIT CITY WORKING WELL CHALLENGE: CREATE A HEALTHIER WORKSITE!
January 14, 2008

Charlotte, NC – The Mecklenburg County Health Department's Fit City Worksite Wellness Program encourages all residents of Mecklenburg County to make their worksite a healthier place by joining the Fit City Working Well Challenge.

The Fit City Working Well Challenge kicks off January 15 and runs through April 15.

Here's how it works:

Those who enter are asked to complete at least 10 of 18 separate activities to qualify for a prize drawing. These activities could include joining or forming a worksite wellness committee, asking an employer to implement a healthy food policy for company-sponsored meetings, or providing copies of healthy recipes for co-workers.

Participants can win one of many great prizes including:

  • A charter membership to Discovery Place
  • Lunch for 10 at Crisp Seventh Street Cafe
  • Family Ray Pass for a year to from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation
  • A two-person tent from REI

Take the first steps towards creating a healthier workplace by taking the Fit City Working Well Challenge.

The Fit City Worksite Wellness Program, part of the Fit City Challenge, is funded by a grant from the North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund, which is sponsoring some of the prizes for the challenge.

Fit City Worksite Wellness offers free consultations and assessments of worksites in Mecklenburg County, assisting workplaces in the creation of work environments that support physical activity and healthy eating habits.

Employers can schedule a free worksite assessment by contacting the Fit City Worksite Wellness Coordinator Julie Jackman at (704-432-4526) or go to www.fitcitychallenge.org/worksite and click on "Got Questions?"
