For more than a decade, Big Shot Saturday has brought together the Mecklenburg County Health Department and the Junior League of Charlotte to help children ages two months to 12 years get their required childhood immunizations.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools require all school-aged children be up-to-date with their shots to be enrolled in school and Big Shot's Saturday hours offer parents a convenient alternative to get their children's shots without having to miss work, make an appointment, or wait in a crowded clinic waiting room.
Immunizations are free though the Health Department but parents must bring their children's shot records to insure the clinic nurses know exactly what shots are needed.
There will be several Big Shot Saturday opportunities in the coming weeks, kicking off this Saturday, August 25 at Eastland Mall located at 5471 Central Avenue. Clinic hours are 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Additional dates offered in the month of September are as follows:
-
September 8: Albemarle Road Elementary School, 7800 Riding Trail Road, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
-
September 15: Eastland Mall, 5471 Central Avenue, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
-
September 22: Eastland Mall, 5471 Central Avenue, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
If Saturdays are not convenient, parents and guardians can make an appointment at the Health Department. Call the appointment line at 704-336-6500.
