FINAL TWO "BIG SHOT SATURDAYS" SET: SEPTEMBER 30 AND OCTOBER 7
September 29, 2006

Charlotte, NC – Get your children's immunizations updated at Big Shot Saturday. The Mecklenburg County Health Department is offering this convenient opportunity for parents to get their kids' shots up-to-date.

On the next two Saturdays, September 30 and October 7, nurses from the Mecklenburg County Health Department will be at Eastland Mall from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. for Big Shot Saturday. Eastland Mall is located at 5471 Central Avenue. Park in the covered parking deck near Sears and use the entrance located near the food court and skating rink. The clinic will be inside the former American Eagle Outfitters store.

Big Shot Saturday is part of a year-long effort targeting children ages 2 months to 12 years to get their required childhood immunizations. It is also a convenient option for parents. The Saturday hours help parents to get their children's shots without having to miss work.

Childhood immunizations are free. The only requirement is that parents bring their child's shot records. This will allow the clinic nurses to know what shots your child needs.

For more than a decade, the Health Department and the Junior League of Charlotte have partnered to promote and organize Big Shot Saturdays. Junior League volunteers will be at the mall this Saturday to help clinic nurses collect patient information.

Parents and guardians can always make an appointment to have their children immunized by calling the Mecklenburg County Health Department at 704-336-6500. To learn more about public health in Mecklenburg County, visit www.meckhealth.org.
