Mecklenburg County Health Department Begins Using New Statewide Food Service Establishment Inspection Form

Charlotte – New statewide restaurant inspection forms are in place as of July 1, and Mecklenburg County's Health Department is helping restaurants get up to speed on the changes.

Restaurant dining

The idea is to focus inspections on those establishments with the highest potential risk and violations more likely to contribute to food-borne illness.

Critical risk factors include improper cooking or holding temperatures of potentially hazardous food, food handlers not washing hands properly and ill workers preparing food. The form has 18 critical violations and 30 good retail practices.

Take a behind the kitchen look (video) with a local health inspector as she discusses key factors on the new restaurant inspection form.
